You'll learn things as you go along and eventually have it down pat.Alright, so here's the deal over the past couple weeks I've seen 2 or 3 requests from players of KSP on this subreddit asking for mun landing advice and tutorials. If you spend too much time trying to make it perfect, you'll never get it done and no one an enjoy it. Last bit of advice: Just make a video and post it. It can give a lot of god an useful information very quickly and may help you in accomplishing the goals. You can't go wrong with Kerbal Engineer ( ) for your interface. You can also go back and forth, so (using quicksaves) do the mission with the interface, then do it and take shots without it for cinematic effects and go between them in editing. Hell, it might help someone to see what you are doing with the interface up so they can replicate it and learn something. I don't use it because I want that cinematic feel, but if you are showing a career playthrough, or some kind of technique, or a mission where the info on the interface isn't too distracting, then go for it. Second: the interface depends on the video. This gives me multiple shots per moment, which helps with editing so that it isn't just the same side shot the whole time. "quicksave (in orbit)" so I cn quickly put them back in the right place, F9, and I can do another shot. So I copy my quicksave files into my google drive and give them a label, e.g. Here are a few responses and advice.įirst bit of advice: quicksave, quick save, quicksave. Therefore, I don't have the display up at all in any of my videos and hide the mouse (I too learned about the double right clicking just now here! damn!) in the corner when recording. I make KSp videos in my spare time, but I go for the RSS, real (or imagined) missions. Of course, I'd be most thankful for any other tips & hints you could share :) But which mods would also make making videos easier/more spectacular? Which mods would you recommend, interface-wise? KVV allows showing the design from cool angle and Camera Tools is great for flybys, that I know. Is hiding the mouse cursor a feature of a recording program or some mod/KSP trick? I moticed Scott Manley never has his cursor on screen, yet unless he's an esper he obviously must know where is he pointing. I don't use MechJeb and prefer KE HUD to panels, so my screen is not very cluttered. Is having the interface on-screen really a capital offense? I read a couple of advice threads here and some said the interface distracts the watcher and should be hidden. And this is what I'd like to ask you guys about. This time however I ran into the ground realizing I am unsure about several technical things. So I decided to try again, this time with some sort of plan at least. So I took a step back, watched some Scott Manley and realized his videos are well, basically that - pure gameplay with little fireworks and his commentary. In other words, I was unable to make the video both nice and actually showing something. But I realized that while I can set up camera tools to make some gorgeous photos or sequences, all would be damn static - I can't make a lander approach without the interface, and most beautiful shots would also require me to have absolutely no sight on the surface. Not to mention it would span 10+ minutes. But I came to a conclusion that just gameplay with dry commentary might be simply boring. Not satisfactory.įirst, I tried making a regular video with commentary. I already tried editing 3 videos, but each attempt was. I am planning on sharing a project I am working on in KSP with you guys via YT - but I am unsure about the way I should approach to it. This might be a silly question, but I think it won't hurt to ask here.
